#PoemADay No.30: Sometimes Faith is Easy

Sometimes the hum of war
and shame and stress behind you
is only audible
because the sound of your praise isn’t.

Sometimes faith is more like
movies and fudge sundaes and video games
than sweaty prayers
invoking Holy Ghost Fire
at 2 Am
on a Friday night.

Sometimes your audacity to smile,
to turn off the alarm and
to sleep in the eye of the storm
is all God needs for His peace to find you.

Sometimes laughter
in the face of death
is the right move.

Sometimes our children
hold the answer.
Do we catch the clues?
